Gal Oya Lodge

Project Summary

Just outside the remote and almost forgotten Gal Oya National Park lies the charming Gal Oya Lodge, a perfect haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Designed by the widely acclaimed architectural firm Balmond Studio, Gal Oya Lodge was launched in August of 2014 and is the first property to open in the South-Eastern interior of the country. CSEC was the structural engineer responsible for this ecoluxe resort.

Set in an outstanding location near to Sri Lanka’s largest lake, the Gal Oya Lodge is spread across 20 acres of private forest taking the guests to the very heart of nature. Built from local materials, including woods of teak and mara, and ‘illuk’ grass roofs, Gal Oya Lodge brings ecological luxury to Sri Lanka’s little-visited Gal Oya National Park.

Skillfully designed with wooden panels and glass, the seven spacious bungalows and the two-bedroom villa is the ideal accommodation for guests looking to relax in a spectacular setting, while feeling secluded. The bungalows measure 800 square foot in size and are equipped with large windows and a verandah that offers a panoramic view of the tranquil surroundings. The villa perched above the Lodge has a spectacular view of the national park.

Enabling guests to get back to nature, Gal Oya Lodge is simple in design and amenities.
